Soluble in alcohols and chloroform, slightly soluble in water.

2. Applications
It acts as a phosphonium ylide precursor for Wittig reactions in the synthesis of fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and liquid crystal monomers.
It is also used as a curing accelerator for polymer materials such as powder coatings and epoxy resins, as well as a phase transfer catalyst in organic synthesis.
