Off-white solid. Soluble in alcohols and chloroform, slightly soluble in water.

2. Applications
It is a phosphonium ylide precursor for Wittig reactions in the synthesis of fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and liquid crystal monomers.
It can be used as a curing accelerator for polymers such as powder coatings and epoxy resins, and also as a phase transfer catalyst in organic synthesis.
